The London World Peace Flame is a solar-powered light shining down onto a carved map of the world in the Peace Garden of KIngsley Hall Community Centre in East London, which was established in 1928 by the Lester sisters and is where Mahatma Gandhi stayed in 1931. The Peace Flame was inaugurated on 2nd October 2018, on the International Day of Non-violence and the anniversary of Gandhi’s birthday.

On 31 July 2003 the first World Peace Flame monument in the UK was installed at the Dru Centre in Snowdonia National Park, North Wales.




On 27 September 2002 the World Peace Flame lamp was installed at the opening of the new human rights building in the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, USA.

The first ever World Peace Flame monument was inaugurated on 18 April 2002 in The Hague. It stands outside the Peace Palace, home of the International Court of Justice and an important symbol of international cooperation and unity.
