This Peace Pathway at Kingsley Hall arose from the desire of people from many different faiths and cultural traditions to create an artistic focus for peace within London. It is here for everyone to enjoy and expresses our universal yearning for peace and harmony.

A stone or earth from every country in the world has been placed under the Path. Much of this has come from places of special significance, including Mecca, Mount Arafat, Assisi, Vrindavan, Jerusalem and Machu Picchu. Under the whole structure there is sand from Mahatma Gandhi’s ashram in Ahmedabad, India.

At the centre you will see a solar-powered World Peace Flame light, symbolising the healing light of peace shining onto the whole world.

Notice the words for peace in many different languages carved into the outer circle of the Pathway.

The London World Peace Flame is a solar-powered light shining down onto a carved map of the world in the Peace Garden of KIngsley Hall Community Centre in East London, which was established in 1928 by the Lester sisters and is where Mahatma Gandhi stayed in 1931. The Peace Flame was inaugurated on 2nd October 2018, on the International Day of Non-violence and the anniversary of Gandhi’s birthday.

[7
