Paying Peace Forward: Inspiring the Next Generation

As part of their ongoing Paying Peace Forward project, the Garforth Peace Project has been working with six local schools to create World Peace Flame tealight candles – helping to share the message of peace in a simple and meaningful way.

These special candles were kindly made by pupils whose creativity and thoughtfulness have brought this initiative to life. Each candle represents a small but powerful act of peace, encouraging reflection and positive action within the community.

The candles, accompanied by informative leaflets, are delivered to Leeds City Council Central Library, where they are available free of charge for members of the public to take and share. They are linked to the Leeds World Peace Flame Monument in Park Square, as well as the other World Peace Flame monuments across Leeds—including England’s first World Peace Flame monument in Garforth.

Through projects like this, the message of the World Peace Flame continues to grow—connecting communities, inspiring young people, and reminding us that peace can be shared, one small action at a time.
