Young Ambassadors for Peace Share Their Voices at the House of Lords

On 18 May, pupils from West Lodge Primary School and nine other schools attended an event at the House of Lords as part of the Young Ambassadors for Peace Project, supported by the World Peace Flame Foundation.

The event highlighted the impact of the Peace in Your Hands Peace Education Pack, a World Peace Flame initiative that is being used in schools to support Peace Education activities and learning.

Pupils gave presentations about the immense benefits they have experienced through having Peace Education included in their schools’ activities. The children, who are Young Ambassadors for Peace, spoke about their experiences of the programme and the positive impact it has had within their schools.

Teachers and parents also shared their reflections, speaking about what a transformative process the project has been for the children involved.

Among those attending was Shahn Ahmad, World Peace Flame Ambassador for London and a teacher at West Lodge Primary School.

The whole day was described as inspirational and enjoyable and will now lead to further research into the benefits of Peace Education in primary schools, as well as discussions about including it within the UK Primary School Curriculum.
