Paying Peace Forward: Ninelands Primary School Inspires Community Action

The Garforth Peace Project continues to expand its Paying Peace Forward initiative, with a recent visit to Ninelands Primary School highlighting the powerful role young people play in sharing the message of peace.

During a recent Assembly for Peace, pupils at Ninelands Primary School demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm and commitment. In preparation for the visit, the children had already created a further 200 World Peace Flame tealight candles, which will be taken to Leeds Central Library for members of the public to collect and share.

This ongoing initiative has already seen thousands of candles distributed as part of the Leeds World Peace Flame project, with additional candles also available at the Garforth World Peace Flame monument—extending the reach of the message across the community.

A special moment of the visit saw the children select their own handcrafted World Peace Flame Lamp, created by local craftsman Duncan McBride. The lamp is battery operated and incorporates the wick of the World Peace Flame, with an LED light set within it—offering a safe, practical, and meaningful way for the school to keep the presence of the Flame alive in their daily environment.
