World Peace Flame Lit in Watamu, Kenya

Watamu Treehouse, Kenya

On 29 August 2025, a powerful and symbolic moment took place on the shores of Watamu, Kenya.

Teams from the World Peace Flame Foundation and Watamu Treehouse came together to light the World Peace Flame.

The flame was kindled in a lantern reminiscent of the one used for the original African Peace Flame in 1999—honouring a legacy of peace while continuing its journey forward. This connection to the past serves as a reminder that the work of peace is both enduring and ever-evolving.

This newly lit flame will be linked to the Africa Flame at Snowdonia Mountain Lodge—the first flame to be installed as part of the Global Peace Pathway. This growing network of flames connects centres across the world, creating a shared symbol of unity and intention.

As each new flame is lit and connected, the pathway becomes stronger—reminding every visitor, in every location, that the work of peace is alive, shared, and reaching across the globe.
