Celebrating 8 Years of the Garforth World Peace Flame

In April 2025, the Garforth Peace Project marked the 8th Anniversary of the Garforth World Peace Flame with a special visit to Green Lane Primary Academy.

As part of the celebration, the team delivered their ongoing Paying Peace Forward project, sharing the message of peace with pupils and staff. The initiative was warmly received, reflecting the strong connection between the school and the wider peace project.

A highlight of the visit was the presentation of a handcrafted World Peace Flame Lamp, created by local craftsman Duncan McBride. Designed for both practicality and meaning, the lamp can be powered by battery or solar energy and includes a central wick lit from the World Peace Flame, symbolically carrying its energy. An LED light provides a safe and accessible way for the flame to be present within the school environment.

The visit provided a meaningful way to celebrate this important anniversary—continuing to build relationships with local schools and inspiring young people to engage with the values of peace.
