Kippax World Peace Flame: A Community Commitment to Peace

We are delighted to welcome the Kippax World Peace Flame as a new addition to the growing network of World Peace Flame monuments. Located in the village of Kippax, Leeds, this community-led project brings a fresh and inspiring space for reflection and unity within the War Memorial Gardens.

The flame was officially unveiled on 14 June 2025 during a special ceremony held in the Remembrance Gardens. This event marked an important moment for the village, bringing together residents and local organisations in a shared commitment to peace.

Created with strong local support, the monument reflects the collaborative spirit of the Kippax community. Contributions, including materials provided by ETEX Performance Ltd, helped bring the project to life, ensuring it is both meaningful and locally rooted.

Since its installation, the Kippax World Peace Flame has already played a role in significant community events. Notably, it was used to light a beacon at the War Memorial as part of commemorations for VJ Day in August 2025 – linking remembrance with a message of hope for the future.

The project is closely connected with other peace initiatives in the region, including the Garforth World Peace Flame. Together, these installations contribute to a growing network of peace monuments, each reinforcing a shared global vision.

Led by Kippax Parish Council, the initiative reflects an ongoing commitment to fostering peace, strengthening community ties, and creating spaces where reflection and unity can flourish.
